Overview[edit]

The Owlbears in the Northwest, the Sonic Wolves in the east, and the Grimlings in the south are at war. You can control the direction of the war by taking out the leaders of each camp and defeating the attackers or defenders.

Fast Rundown[edit]

You are probably here because you want access to one of the war drops like the Eye of the Owlbear Mother. Here are the simplest steps to achieve this:

  • 1 Defeat the Grimling Chieftan at number 5 on the map. Within a few seconds, the Owlbears will launch an attack on the Grimlings announced by a message to the zone.
  • 2 Defeat the 5 Grimling Defenders that spawn right in front of the Chieftan you just killed.
  • 3 While the Owlbears are travelling, head to the Sonic Wolf cave at number 3 on the map and stand outside by the rock. If you move quick, you have time to kill some wolves and the named/PH here - Ghowlik -- this is OPTIONAL and has no impact on the war.
  • 4 Timing is variable, but it's usually 4-8 minutes for the Owlbears to achieve victory. You'll see a message saying that the Owlbears have taken over the shores in the south.
  • 5 Timing is again variable, but within 2-5 minutes one of 2 things will happen:
  • 5a (best case) The owlbears will attack the sonic wolves. If this happens, Sonic Defenders will appear at the caves you should be in front of. Kill the Defenders so the owlbears will win the attack.
  • 5b The sonic wolves will detect the owlbears are spread thin and attack. 5'ish Sonic Attackers will march out of the cave. Kill them so they never make it to the Owlbear caves. Wait 12 minutes and repeat this step (Owlbears to attack or Sonic wolves will attack)
  • 6 Once the owlbear attack has started and you've defeated the Sonic Defenders, run to number 2 on the map. It's a long run.
  • 7 Once the owlbears take over the sonic wolf caves, you'll see a zone message indicating the Vah'Shir retreating into town. The Owlbear general will spawn in #2 as the Vah Shir run away.
  • 8 Kill Skriat`Chakku at number 2. As soon as they die, the vah shir will come back and all the camps will reset back to their initial position.


If you don't get your eye, or want more, start again from #1. If you're lucky (5a happens right away), you can finish a war in about 20 minutes, mostly running around. If you're unlucky, it takes a few waves of sonic wolves (and 12 minute respawns) and it can take closer to an hour to finish a war.

Skriat`Chakku is light blue to a 52 and probably around level 35. He's surrounded by quite a few aggressive owlbears of lower level you will need to kill to get to him. This is very easy at 50+, probably doable by a group in their mid-late 30's. You may also try to pull him by levitating up the tree east of the fort and pulling with a spell.

Details[edit]

  • Factions attack counter-clockwise to start the war. If you kill the Grimling leader, Owlbears attack. If you kill the sonic wolf leader, Grimlings attack. If you kill the owlbear leader, sonic wolves attack.
  • Special named will appear in the conquered camps, you can use this information to cause the named you want to spawn.
  • When an attack commences, the attackers will send 3-5 non-kos units across the map. The defending faction will spawn 3-5 defenders. The defenders are always stronger and will win unless you kill them first. Any single attacker surviving should cause a victory and camp reset.
  • Once a faction owns all three camps, they will take over the Vah Shir outpost at #2 on the map and will have a stronger named here.
