This is a guide to flagging to enable you to enter The Planes of Power zones. There are a number of Planes of Power progression guides and walkthroughs, some are linked at the bottom of this page. There may be differences of course since those guides refer to live during the PoP timeframe (or perhaps even the current progression servers). This guide is tailored specifically to TAKP. If you are so inclined, help make this guide as AKurate as possible by diving into the code!
Minimum level or Alternate Access quests can get you into a zone, but you still need to complete all previous flags normally to move on. You can however typically get the flags for that zone and then backtrack/fix your flags and continue on.
As of 24 July 2023, some Tier 2 and 3 zones can be accessed by level:
Level 55: Plane of Valor, Plane of Storms, Plane of Torment, Ruins of Lxanvom (a.k.a. Crypt of Decay)
Level 60: Drunder, Fortress of Zek (a.k.a. Plane of Tactics)
Level 62: Bastion of Thunder, Halls of Honor
Planes of Power Flagging Overview
So you want to see the Elemental Planes? It's not going to be easy. You're going to need a solid raiding force and a lot of dedication to get there. The major guilds on TAKP all conduct back flagging, and generally open them up for guests to claim any left over flags. Be polite and follow instructions. Check the Raid/Flag schedule for what is planned.
The chart below gives a quick overview of the progression (but is not entirely Akurate, like the level info). Here is a more simplified flow chart version.
Guide Overview
1) The format for this guide is:
[ ] Green Steps are NPC dialogue or zoning related
[ ] Red Steps are boss kills/fights
[ ] Purple Italic Steps are not “required” flags. Only enough people need to do these to keep your raid moving forward.
2) Flagging issues primarily arise for three reasons:
- From not talking to the right NPC before or after killing a boss.
- From not zoning into a zone from another when you first get a flag (i.e. you must zone into Halls of Honor from Plane of Valor after killing Aerin’Dar for the first time).
- From exceeding the number of flags available for the raid, usually capped at 72 flags.
3) There are two key NPC’s in Plane of Knowledge: Seer Mal Nae`Shi and Grand Librarian Maelin.
Seer Mal Nae`Shi is located in the building next to the Plane of Tranquility zone. She can fix flagging issues you may have if they get out of order. I recommend doing these steps more than once throughout the flagging process. Especially if you begin to see “You’ve received a new checklist flag!” rather than “You’ve received a character flag!”:
[ ] Locate Seer Mal Nae`Shi in the Plane of Knowledge. Be sure to sit down. Say “guided meditation” to see the status of your current flags. Say “unlock memories” to get your flags in order. You may have to say this a few times and may get more than 1 flag. Repeat the phrases until you get no more flags.
Grand Librarian Maelin is located at the top of of library elevator and is part of the flagging process, mostly towards the later stages. He provides four required character flags. He cannot put your flags in order like the Seer can, so he is a common cause for flag issues. The four Maelin flags are "combined" flags granted after multiple kills:
- "Cipher" flag for after both Saryrn and Marr
- "Zebuxoruk" flag for after both Marr and Agnarr
- "Zeks" flag for after both Vallon and Tallon Zek
- One final flag for after receiving both "Zebuxoruk" flag and Rallos Zek flag
[ ] “Hail” Maelin, and say “what lore”, and “what information” to Grand Librarian Maelin at the top of the Plane of Knowledge Library elevator. You may have to say this a few times and may get more than 1 flag. Repeat the 3 phrases until you get all flags.
If you are having a flagging issue you may have to go back and forth between Grand Librarian Maelin and Seer Mal Nae`Shi a couple times to fix your flags.
Checking Flags
As you work your way through the various flag steps, you should check your flag progress often on Planes of Power Flag Checklist site. To use it, copy and paste the text from your log file into the page.
Log files are located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\EverQuest\Logs\ on a PC, or your user's ~/Library/Application Support/EverQuest/Logs directory on a Mac. On a Mac, the Library directory is hidden by default, and is most easily accessed by having Finder active, hold OPTION and click on the 'Go' menu item, then down to Library.
You can toggle /log on and /log off to start and stop writing to the log file. Or you can edit the eqclient.ini file to reflect Log=TRUE if you wish to enable it permanently. The eqclient.ini file will be located in the EverQuest folder noted in the section above according to your OS.

To be able to speak to the NPCs in Plane of Tranquility to start the Torment flagging process you need to have completed PoDisease/Crypt of Decay/PoNightmare flags correctly. You can still kill Keeper of Sorrows and Saryrn ahead of time if you are minimum level 55 to enter Plane of Torment, but you’ll need to fix your flags afterwards. Plane of Tactics
Scheduled as "TZ/VZ" and "RZ" on the Raid/Flag schedule.
Many (ok, most) players will get their flags out of order here by killing all three Zeks before receiving the proper flags from Maelin. This is easily fixable. You can also access Plane of Tactics at level 60 and receive checklist flags for all three kills without any pre-flagging. You will just have to spend time fixing your flags later. [ ] Kill Vallon Zek and Hail A Planar Projection (You’ve received a character flag!) [ ] Kill Tallon Zek and Hail A Planar Projection (You’ve received a character flag!) Visit Grand Librarian Maelin [ ] Go to Grand Librarian Maelin in the top of the library in the Plane of Knowledge (up the elevator). With the "Cipher" flag and character flags for killing both Vallon and Tallon Zek, say "what lore" to Maelin for the combined "Zeks" character flag. (You’ve received a character flag!)
[ ] Kill Rallos Zek and Hail A Planar Projection (You’ve received a character flag!) Visit Grand Librarian Maelin Again [ ] With Maelin's "Zebuxoruk" flag (Marr and Agnarr) and final RZtW character flag, say "what information" to Maelin to receive the final character flag from Maelin. (You’ve received a character flag!) |
Mid-point Flag Check/Flag Fixing
At this point you must have completed all the Tier 2 flags and killed Saryn, Mithaniel Marr, Agnarr, Tallon Zek, Vallon Zek and Rallos Zek. You should have visited Grand Librarian Maelin several times and received his four character flags. But lets be honest, you probably didn't...so you now need to fix all your checklist and missing Maelin flags before you can proceed to the Tower of Solusek Ro.
Go visit the Seer in PoK. Sit down and say "unlock my memories". She won't necessarily grant you any flags - this is for fixing flags if you do them out of order.
Now go to Grand Librarian Maelin. He is a gnome in the Plane of Knowledge library. To get to him go to the bottom floor of the library and find the elevator (it has a button in the wall). Ride the elevator up to the top and he's behind the table in front of a bookshelf.
Hail Maelin and say "new information" and "new lore" a few times. Keep track of how many character flags you receive from him, you need four. If you don't get all the flags, go back to the Seer, sit down, then say "guided meditation" again to get them in order.
As you work your way through this, you should check your flag progress often on Planes of Power Flag Checklist site. To use it, copy and paste the text from your log file into the page. Go back and forth between the Seer and Maelin repeating these steps until the flag checker shows you are good.
You are now ready for the Tower of Solusek Ro!
Solusek Ro's Tower
Scheduled as "ToSR" on the Raid/Flag schedule.
You will need all of your flags in correct order up through Rallos Zek, and flags from all 5 Mini bosses to be able to zone into Solusek Ro’s chamber. [ ] Kill Xuzl and click stone. (You’ve received a character flag!) [ ] Kill Arlyxir and click stone. (You’ve received a character flag!) [ ] Kill Jiva and click stone. (You’ve received a character flag!) [ ] Kill Rizlona and click stone. (You’ve received a character flag!) [ ] Kill The Protector of Dresolik and click stone. (You’ve received a character flag!) [ ] Kill Solusek Ro and Hail A Planar Projection (You’ve received a character flag!) [ ] Drop down into Lava Pit in Solusek Ro’s chamber to zone into Doomfire, The Burning Lands, a.k.a The Plane of Fire. |
Tier 4 Elemental Planes
In addition to Solusek Ro's chamber, killing Rallos Zek also unlocks the way to the other three elemental planes. Once you have killed Rallos along with the other listed flag mobs (Agnarr, etc.) Go to Maelin, and you should see this:
Eryslai, the Kingdom of Wind
Eryslai, otherwise known as Plane of Air is the home of Xegony. Kill the avatars to gain access to Xegony. Kill Xegony for part of the key needed for Plane of Time. |
Vegarlson, the Earthen Badland
Vegarlson is the Plane of Earth, and home of the Rathe. Complete all the rings to spawn the Mystical Arbitor and kill him in order to gain access to Plane of Earth B. Once there, kill the Rathe counsel and the Avatar of Earth. |
This is the elemental Plane of Water and home of Coirnav. Kill Coirnav to obtain one of the pieces needed for entrance to the Plane of Time. |
Doomfire, The Burning Lands
Doomfire is the Plane of Fire. Kill Fennin Ro to gain a part of the key needed for entrance to the Plane of Time. |
The Plane of Time
At this point you should have four elemental shields, one drops from each of the elemental gods.
- From Coirnav: Sphere of Coalesced Water
- From Fennin: Globe of Dancing Flame
- From Rathe: Mound of Living Stone
- From Xegony: Amorphous Cloud of Air.
Now you need to combine them. There is a book found on a slave in Plane of Tactics which contains this vital information.
I, Frana Shimi, have speculated for the Lords of War an answer for a new type of container. The problem that you had presented to me was the ability to seal off the very power of the elements. No material has the ability to hold all of the powers of the elements at one time.
I believe though if you were to create an unfired medium container and then fire it with two high quality firing sheets covered in Multielemental glaze it would create an invulnerable container. To make the multielement glaze, you will need to mix together the four base element glazes: windy glaze, aqua glaze, earthen glaze, and magma glaze in a glaze mortar.
I dare not imagine why you would need to combine the quintessence of the elements, or what you would do with it. Please consider my time here spent well, and set my soul at rest. I have toiled here for long.
What this means is that you must combine your four elemental shields and combine them inside an odylic vial. To create the odylic vial, follow the instructions from the book:
- Step 1: Create the multi-elemental glaze
Combine windy glaze, aqua glaze, earthen glaze, and magma glaze in a glaze mortar. (These glazes are made from components found inside each of the elemental planes)
- Step 2: Create an unfired medium container
Combine 1 block of clay, 1 medium jar sketch, and 1 flask of water on a pottery wheel.
- Step 3: Create the odylic vial
Combine the unfired medium container with 2 high quality firing sheets and the multi-elemental glaze in a Tanaan kiln (e.g. the one in Plane of Knowledge). **NOTE:** This item is not no-drop so your guild will only need one.
If you did all this correctly, you now have a 4-slot container called an odylic vial. If you're having problems creating the vial, I refer you to EQTraders for the recipes. Place the 4 elemental shields you have (globe, sphere, cloud, and mound) inside, and combine. The result should be the Quintessence of Elements:
Now take your nice flashy new quintessence (which for some odd reason has the same graphic as the scepter of Al`kabor) and hail Maelin in the library of Plane of Knowledge.
Almost done now, head to the Plane of Innovation and bring along someone who has a key to the Factory. Open the door to the factory and immediately turn left inside the first room, open the door there and you will find Chronographer Muon, a robot, in the back left corner. Hail him...
At this point you get transported to an otherwise unreachable section of the zone. At the end of the walkway you will find your good friend Maelin along with a time machine.
Well, you've done it. What are you waiting for? Click the time machine in the middle and you will be transported to the Plane of Time.
