General[edit]

TAKP is currently in the Planes of Power expansion which is the final expansion the server will get. The server will not advance past the PoP era. The current level cap is 65 with lots of Luclin and Planes of Power AAs available to acquire.

Lots of getting started and TAKP specific tips here: https://www.takproject.net/forums/index.php?threads/new-to-the-server-check-here.19791/

Why should I play on the Al'Kabor Project when Server X does Y?[edit]

  • This is the only server aiming to recreate the Al'Kabor server and the unique community it fostered. There is a tremendous amount of effort put into getting details correct. We are also using a Era-Accurate client with native Mac OS support, as opposed to the Titanium Client that many other projects are retrofitting.

What is/How big is the server population?[edit]

  • Server population averages from the 40's off-peak to 220+ characters at prime time.
  • You can reach max level without having to multi-box. Many players have successfully leveled up, and enjoy group and raid while only single-boxing.

Website for tracking EverQuest Emulator server population trends is here: https://unixgeek.com/eqemu.html

Where can I find the Client to Download[edit]

How many "Active" characters can I run at the same time/and or is "Boxing" allowed?[edit]

  • Players are allowed to play up to 3 active characters from the same account or IP address, plus one account dedicated to function as a Bazaar Trader. For greater detail, please see our Forum Post

How to disable Luclin models?[edit]

  • On Mac, edit your eqclient.ini found in ~/username/Library/Application Support/EverQuest/
  • On Windows, edit the eqclient.ini in the folder where you unzipped your TAKP files.

Set AllLuclinPcModelsOff=TRUE

This also allows use of the famous horse bug that existed on AK where you don't have the limitations of horse speed up/down that you do with Luclin models on.

Please note, you may need to show hidden files to find the eqclient.ini. You can do this by opening an active Finder window and press the Shift, Command (⌘), and period symbol (.) keys in combination. To hide them again, just repeat the key combination.

Game-Play[edit]

How does armor work in this game?[edit]

  • Under construction: For now please look at the Forum Thread on the subject.

How does Feign Death pulling work?[edit]

Launcher Issues[edit]

Why can't I select the Luclin Models?[edit]

  • Press enter key after selecting. Don't press button.

I can't see the bottom of the logon window to press the accept button[edit]

  • Add the Following lines to [Defaults] Section of your eqclient.ini
FEWindowedModeXOffset=0
FEWindowedModeYOffset=0

In Game Issues[edit]

Can I use my scroll wheel to switch to 3rd person view?[edit]

  • Unfortunately not, our client doesn't support this feature. The way to achieve a similar result is to hit the F9 key twice and then use the PGDN and PGUP buttons

Why is my non-QWERTY keyboard not working correctly in game?[edit]

  • The default client is packaged with the QWERTY keyboard layout file. This can be changed by replacing the keyboard.txt in your TAKP folder with the one made for your locality keyboard.txt by nationality. Please note that several are still missing and will be uploaded as we can find/make them

Crashes during long play sessions on raids[edit]

Edit your eqclient.ini file and set this value to zero ShowSpellEffects=0

or in-game can type

/showspell OFF

Update to latest FreeTheMouse client v3.6.4

https://www.dropbox.com/s/qzb86juu8k87mfs/eqgame_dll%20v3.6.4%20for%20ftm.zip?dl=0

This should help with client switching crashes

Apply UI fixes to help with char select screen crashes:

Edit your eqclient.ini file and change this line to match your chosen UI that you use

UISkin=<your UI name>
